Print status
What each print status means, why your book locks after send-to-print, and where to download your PDF.
Statuses you'll see
After you send a book to print, a print job moves through a short pipeline. Status badges appear on your book list and on print readiness.
- In print queue — we've received your book and it's waiting to generate files.
- Generating print files — interior and cover PDFs are being created (usually a few minutes).
- Book preview ready — files validated; you can read the digital edition, order copies, and share.
- Print failed — something went wrong; open print readiness to review and retry.
Why the book locks
When you queue print files, the project locks so the printed book matches what you approved. Editing chapters, design, and cover is paused while that print job is active. If generation fails, the lock can release so you can fix issues and try again.
Digital edition and PDF
You can read every page in the on-site digital reader before and after send-to-print. After files are ready, you can also download the interior PDF from Account → Your data for archive or travel. The preferred way to read remains on the site.
